Marceline Murphy has
had a crush on her best friend Julie’s brother Sam since she was 8 years old.
But Sam and his best friend Patrick O’Connor are known to be rogue’s when it
comes to women and alcohol. No heart is safe when they are around.
Marceline is an only child that has always wanted a large
family. She has envied her best friend’s large family for years. When both
Patrick and Sam set their hearts on Marcy she is determined to not be their
next conquest.
Marcy is the first girl that has ever made Patrick and Sam
want to change for the better. Both determined to win her heart, they join in
helping Marcy with the fundraising play for the parish. At first they join only
to gain Marcy’s interest, but one heart is changed forever. Will Marcy choose
Sam whom she has had a schoolgirl crush on for years or his best friend Patrick
whom she continually under estimates?
A Light in the Window is the prequel to the O’Connor family
story. If you have read any of The Daughters of Boston series or The Winds of
Change then you know how A Light in the Window turns out. But as with all of
Julie Lessman’s books it is not without its twists and turns to get to the
final outcome. A Light in the Window has become my favorite of the O’Connor
stories! Even though this story is “lighter” than the other books in the series
I found that there is still enough passion and angst to keep me on the edge of
my seat! One of the things that I definitely love about the whole series is the
faith interwoven through the characters lives. Each book shows how surrender to
the Savior can change the most hardened heart.
Here are my reviews of the other O'Connor books in the series:
A Passion Most Pure
A Passion Redeemed
A Passion Denied
A Hope Undaunted
A Heart Revealed
A Love Surrendered
A Passion Most Pure

A Heart Revealed
A Love Surrendered
Thanks for the heads up on the contest. Hope you have a great week! :O)

DeleteWonderful review, Julie! :) I have to say I thought it was so fun that Marcy's best friend is named Julie - kind of like the author might be showing how much she cares about the characters...or maybe I'm reading too much into it! ;) Still fun with dear people like you and Julie Lessman sharing the name! And I loved who that character ended up with in the book - he seemed like a pretty great guy!
ReplyDeleteI decided to give this one 5 stars after all, because it really serves its purpose so well and is such a sweet read without losing the Lessman-drama touch. :) I'm going to be stubborn and say that my favorite is still A Passion Most Pure, though! ;)

I liked the best friends name also! I'm kind of partial to it :) And I thought that couple was perfect for each other!!
DeleteI wonder if I had read A Passion Most Pure first that it would be my favorite? I read the books kind of backwards. I started with The Winds of Change books and then went to The Daughters of Boston. Because I didn't realize TDOB was actually the beginning of the O'Connor story. Silly me! I'm so glad you enjoyed A Light in the Window! My thoughts exactly on the book not "losing the Lessman-drama touch"

Sigh . . . you and Renee are determined to entice me to buy this book. And right before Christmas when my sisters are sure to ask me for a wish list! Love your review! Thanks for sharing it with us. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh Renee you must read it! And if you pre-order it before November 9th you can be entered into the contest that Julie Lessman is running. :)
DeleteThis is definitely my favorite of the O'Connor stories. Although I think I say that after every one that I read! :)
Thanks for stopping by and commenting! Hope you are staying warm and safe during the storm!
